Lil' Pea's Room

After several days of laundry and trying to find places to put things, Lil' Pea's room is coming along. It is still a work in progress and there are random piles of stuff waiting for more baskets/buckets, etc. (The 3rd pictures illustrates this point...) I am also sure that some stuff will find it's way out into the rest of the apartment eventually. Here are some preliminary pictures of my hard work from the past several days!

33 Weeks

Here are the latest pictures of the ol' gestation. Lil' Pea feels like she is doing a good job growing in there. The other day at the doctor, she showed me how to feel where her head is so now Aaron & I can feel her whole body in there. It's pretty weird, but also nice.

Aaron wanted a picture sans shirt, but then he goes "OH MY GOD! It's so white!!" So, I made him take one with the shirt - I decided I could put both up here. I have no self-esteem anymore, who cares?

Lil' Pea's last trip to NH in utero...

We got back yesterday from a week in NH. It was fabulously beautiful there and we were reluctant to return. The weather was awesome and we spent a lot of time just chilling on the porches of our parents. There isn't a ton of excitement to report, so I will let the pictures tell about our week:

Jaime & Jon came over for some hanging out. We played some Mario Kart and had dinner at Margaritas. Then we decided to go play mini-golf at Chucksters. We had some ups & downs...many problems with balls in the water and someone even had a problem walking. (sorry Jaime) I, on the other hand, couldn't bend down to take my ball out of the cup, so I needed help with that. Fun times all around, though.
Doesn't Jon kind of look like the woodchuck in this picture? I don't know what it is...

We got a nice shot of a rainbow from Aaron's porch in Dover.

Aaron wanted to take a trip to York Beach so he could get some salt water taffy from Goldenrod's. I am pretty sure he has eaten about 15 lbs. of it by himself already. It was an awesome day in Maine, though. We didn't really "hang out" at the beach, but we walked around and stuff.
Here is Aaron feeling the water...it wasn't as cold as one might assume for June in Maine.

Since it was so nice we took a drive up to the Nubble Lighthouse and hung out up there for awhile. Plus, parking is free there and we were out of change!

Here are some photos of our baby showers. Aaron really had a thing for the cuddly stuffed animals. Friday night we had a shower at Grammie Thorner's house and then on Saturday we had a shower and Grammy McKernan's house.

Aaron & PigletI am talking on Lil' Pea's phone.

Trying out Lil' Pea's headband...

Aaron with another cuddly bear...this one was ridiculously soft.

A fun little baby shower cake...

The baby showers were really nice & everyone was very generous and thoughtful with their gifts. I started to freak out over the quantity of baby stuff, but mostly that the next time I was going to see all these people, I was going to have a baby. I think I am slightly recovered, but it is scary.

We also took a trip to VT to visit, but I don't have any pictures of that. We just chilled outside chatting & watching birds. Again, the weather was fabulous.

We went to UNH a few times. Steve had orientation and we got to do a little UNH-style eating at DHOP & Jp's.

I am also pretty sure that we used about $50 in Dunkin' Donuts gift cards over the course of the week. :) I think I could have stayed there forever reading on the porch and drinking DD's. However, now I'll be enjoying myself on the couch and setting up baby stuff. That is also fun!!

School's Over!!!

My colleagues threw me a baby shower on Tuesday. It was really sweet of them & we got lots of great stuff. Lil' Pea is very spoiled already...I'm pretty sure she has more clothes than she could possibly ever wear.
Look what I built today!!! This is Lil' Pea's new dresser. We opted for the cheapest dresser we could find and I have to say that so far I give it 2 thumbs up. It is much better quality than I assumed it would be and it was fairly simple to put it together. I really like assembling things like this, though - I think it's fun to lay out all the pieces and follow the directions to build it.

One more day until we head to NH! Yay :)

31 Weeks

Here we are, embarking upon week 31...It is definitely sucking a little bit that it has been "feels like 105" here just about everyday for the past week. On Thursday we had our "3rd grade cookout" and I had to come home in the middle of it to change because I had completely sweat through all my clothes. I stood up and one of the other teachers starts laughing at me and pointing at my butt "it's completely soaking wet!" Another teacher asked me if I could guarantee that it wasn't pee.

It is kind of cool lately, baby-wise, that I guess Lil' Pea must be getting large enough to fill up my uterus or something because I can feel her sticking out of my gut at random times. Yesterday I am pretty sure I was rubbing her butt - it was something sort of hard and round sticking out of my side. I feel even more like I have the Space Balls alien inside of me. It is really cool to be able to feel her sticking out in places, though.

Updates & Humor

  • I outgrew the pants I wore on Monday
  • I outgrew the pants I wore on Tuesday
  • I wore pajama pants to school on Wednesday because nothing else fits
  • I can no longer bend over and pick stuff up without my gut getting in the way
  • I discovered that it is really not possible for me to "take a walk" anymore, since it has been 95 degrees here

How is it possible that this child is going to get larger? I am not even going to fit through doorways.

Unrelated: Aaron received the following email...

Aaron, yes, give it a try. Also group the minor allele homos with the hets since there are so few homos.

Baby Trend Travel System

Our Baby Trend Travel System (aka Stroller/Car Seat) has arrived! Between frequent trips to Target (described by Shelley below), we assembled this gift from my mom. It was very easy to put together and take apart--which will be important for easy transitioning from car baby to mobile baby. I carted the fake baby pictured below around the house; it gave a smooth ride.

We will be naming our baby after this:

JUST KIDDING!!!! But there have been a few Luna Moths around lately. I took this picture on the outter wall of our building. It's kind of cool because they only live 7 days as a moth so you don't usually see them as adults.

How I Repaid a Lifetime of Karmic Debt in One Weekend...

Aaron & I went to Target on Saturday to pick up a few things...and that is where it all began. We get home & try the newly purchased lightbulb and it was the brightest white we had ever seen...it definitely needed to be returned. I tried on the tank top I purchased and I guess I overestimated my size, because the straps were so long my boobs would have needed to be around my bellybutton in order to fit. That needed to be returned...

Sunday arrives and we head back to Target to return the items from Saturday. I decided to spend some of my birthday money on some new bedroom items whilst Aaron takes care of the returns/exchanges. Things are going well.

We head to McAlister's for our Sunday tea and whilst we drink, we talk about many things, one of which was making fun our parents for not depositing checks using the ATM. After tea, we head down to the ATM so I can deposit several checks. The first one goes great - then I put in the 2nd check and the ATM screen goes black. We stand there for awhile wondering what to do and watch and the Windows start up screen comes on...awesome. After several minutes, it spits my card back out and we aren't sure if my checks are coming back or what. Well, they don't. Several minutes later, the sign comes up on the screen: "this ATM is out of service." I then spend quite awhile on the phone filing a claim with Bank of America so I can get the money from the checks I put into the ATM that were not credited to my account.

We decide to hang up the new bedroom curtain and I make the bed with the new comforter. Well, as it turns out, it's hard to hang up a curtain without a curtain. It is nowhere to be found - neither in the Target bag, nor in the trunk. So...it's back to Target for the 3rd time in about 24 hours. They have to watch the security tape to make sure that indeed the cashier forgot to put it in the bag and that we didn't steal it. All is well & we finally get the curtain.

I wanted a Burger King chicken sandwich as a treat for having such a ridiculous time returning/exchanging things. While in the drive-thru we are laughing saying "they'll probably get our order wrong here or something." They ask us to pull ahead into a spot and they will bring our food out to us when it is ready. Unfortunately, in this 5 minutes, the weather decides we'll have a thunderstorm. It is pouring...absolutely pouring. The girl bringing out our food obviously doesn't want to upset the weave, so Aaron gets out to go grab the food in the downpour. He gets back in the car and we drive away. About 2 minutes later we realize she forgot Aaron's drink. We opted to cut our losses and just go home at this point.

Hopefully this weekend will be over soon and the universe will be right again.
