Beth, Jess, & Shelley at the NC Aquarium :)
We (the third graders) took a field trip to the NC Aquarium at the beach yesterday. It turned out to be a pretty fun day. We had to be at school at 6:45 and didn't get back until 8:00, so that was kind of long, but the trip itself was really fun. We saw lots of fish and went out into the saltmarsh to collect crabs and shrimp and stuff. I definitely have some random patches of sunburn which sucks.
On the way home we stopped at Golden Corral for dinner. I had never been to a Golden Corral before, but people around here LOVE it. Most of the chaperones were ridiculously excited that we were going there instead of to a fast food place. As it turns out, I would rather have gone to McD's. (Although I really like McDonald's so that doesn't count...) However, Golden Corral was not as depressing as Bojangles, but pretty darn close. It is like a gigantic dining hall where they serve some very questionable "filet mignon" and fried stuff. It was the most ridiculously overwhelming amount of food and so many people...I felt tears starting to come at one point because I was starving and just standing there with 2 strawberries on my plate and I didn't know where to go or how to get through all the people to get to the food. The food I ate was nothing too spectacular, but we all survived. I will not be rushing out to go to Golden Corral again anytime soon, though.
The quote of the day was when we were looking at some poison dart frogs and there were 2 frogs going at it in the corner. This one kid (a 3rd grader) says "I know those frogs must be married, because it looks like they are having some married fun." :)
