This is somewhat baby-related, so I'm posting it here. Nalgene water bottles and BABY bottles made with plastic #7 are extremely hazardous to your health because they contain BPA (an artificial estrogen). The evidence is virtually indisputable and has been downplayed by companies producing this plastic for several decades.
What's wrong with it? The conclusion from the Chapel Hill panel, a group of university scientists stuyding the effects of BPA from these bottles on humans, concluded that there is an increased risk in prostate and breast cancer, uro-genital abnormalities in male babies, a decline in semen quality in men, early onset of puberty in girls, metabolic disorders including insulin resistant (type 2) diabetes and obesity, and neurobehavioral problems such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
And don't listen to Nalgene who states that the levels humans are exposed to from their bottles are "safe". The scientific panel found over 95% of people they tested had active, and therefore dangerous, levels of BPA in their bodies.
Get rid of your #7s.

i replaced my nalgene with a sigg (http://www.mysigg.com/) bottle and i love it.
We are now using "Klean Kanteens"...made out of stainless steel. They're dishwasher safe and 100% recyclable.
Can I "borrow" your comments about BPA for my blog?
Also Nalgene released this on April 18th: http://www.nalgene-outdoor.com/ "Nalgene to Phase Out Production of Consumer Bottles Containing BPA"
Yes.
A few people have asked me why I care about BPA but not other chemicals, like aspartame (diet soda). Unlike BPA, there is no conclusive evidence linking aspartame to disease risk. The aspartame doses used in rat studies were higher than the amounts you or I would be exposed to (upwards of 2,000 sodas/day). The amount of BPA we are exposed to is relevant to cancer, etc. Note: Almost anything is a carcinogen at high doses (e.g. caffeine).
